A New York developer has purchased a former Dixie Brewing Co. warehouse at 2537 Tulane Ave. for $5.6 million.
2537 Tulane Properties LLC, which lists developer Jeffrey Feil as an officer, acquired the 1.6-acre site from former Dixie Brewing owner Kendra Bruno on April 11, Orleans Parish civil court records show.
Feil is chief executive officer of the Feil Organization, a real estate management and investment company with several retail, residential and office space holdings in the greater New Orleans area, including Lakeside Shopping Center in Metairie.
Dixie continued producing beer in New Orleans until 2005 when Hurricane Katrina left the 19th-century brewery in 10 feet of water. Portions of the old brewery building are being preserved as a research center in the new $1 billion Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
