Fourteen local startups have been selected to participate in IDEAx, a business accelerator program run by Idea Village.
The six-month program, which runs through April 2018, targets early-stage, high-growth startups.
“Igniting homegrown talent is what we do best, and we continue to help as many companies as possible scale so that they can create quality jobs in our community," said John Payne, chairman of the Idea Village's board and CEO of Caesars Entertainment Operating Co.
The program's participants are involved in a range of industries, including hospitality and tourism, health care, technology, arts and culture, retail and sports. The group includes:
AXOSIM: Lowry Curley, Michael Moore, Ben Cappiello and Drew Mouton. Its Nerve-on-a-Chip platform for drug testing uses engineered human nerve tissue that looks and functions like real human nerves, allowing pharmaceutical companies to develop safer and less expensive drugs before conducting a clinical trial.
BRASS CITY SHRUB & SODA: Sarah Pearson, Benton Bourgeois, Danielle Hammett and Matthew Gardner. The maker of Huhu's Ginger Brew will offer seasonal shrubs and sodas and work to strengthen New Orleans' reputation as a food and beverage city.
FANALYSIS: Ryan Redfearn. The mobile app allows sports fans to create, track and analyze their own "fan stats," making sports statistics fan-centric rather than team- or player-centric.
FETCH: Leigh Isaacson, Casey Isaacson and Keith Isaacson. A dating app for dog owner's and dog lovers.
FREE YOUR TEA: Knud Berthelsen. The company delivers teas tailored to the tastes of customers.
THE FRENCH LIBRARY: Katrina Greer. The children’s book shop and magical play and party space in Uptown specializes in French and English language books, games, toys and joyful lifestyles.
LILY REIGN: Erica Day. A group travel company focused on reconnecting people to each other and the planet.
NAVÉ: John McCann Jr. An urban wear fashion clothing brand that allows customers to send a free customized Navé item to a friend, family member or youth in need at their time of purchase.
PANG WANGLE: Jennifer John. An outdoor apparel brand focused on ultra-light and UV-protective clothing for subtropical adventures.
PET KREWE: Allison Albert. An online store for pet apparel.
PRODUCTMATCHR: Andrew Ryan and Kevin Truong. It helps big and tall men find clothing and shoes that fit by matching them to stock in their size at online retailers.
SUNSTOP: Sean McCloskey: An automated single-serve sunscreen dispenser.
VIZZIT: Arthur Bart-Williams. Provides self-guided experiences online that enables brands to connect with audiences through stories at the places they visit.
VR ARCADE NOLA: David Denny and Devin Regan. Provides virtual reality entertainment and t services for meetings, conventions, trade shows and events.
