ST. AMANT - A man killed when his pickup went off La. 22 in Ascension Parish has been identified as Dustan Reine, 24, of Maurepas, State Police reported Tuesday.
Reine, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the eastbound 2002 Dodge truck, troopers said in a news release. Once off La. 22, the pickup struck two trees and ended up in a bayou shortly before 2 a.m. about a mile west of the Amite River Diversion Canal, troopers said.
The truck rolled several times. It came to a rest on the driver’s side partially submerged in the bayou, troopers said.
Troopers said alcohol is suspected as a factor in the crash.
Reine was alone in the truck, troopers said.
