GONZALES - Two men were arrested Tuesday after a police officer saw the pair driving with a stolen four-wheeler half-loaded in the trunk of their car, city police said.
The four-wheeler had two wheels in the trunk and two wheels on the road, police said in a news release Tuesday.
The northbound 2006 Nissan Sentra was pulled over shortly after 5:36 a.m. on West New River Street near the Riverside Barbershop, police said.
The two men in the Sentra, George R. Tucker Jr., 41, of 123-B W. New River St., Gonzales; and Omarion Wicker, 26, of 918 N. Marchand Ave., Gonzales, each told the officer the four-wheeler was owned by the other man, police said.
The officer identified the actual owner, who lived a short distance from where the car was stopped, police said.
Tucker and Wicker were booked in Ascension Parish Prison in Donaldsonville on counts of felony theft in excess of $1,500, police said.
Tucker also was booked with operating a vehicle on a suspended license, police said.
