Calling all former East Ascension High School softball players for the school’s first alumnae softball game Saturday. Games are set from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lady Spartan field, Irma Boulevard next to the Gonzales Civic Center.

Admission to watch is free, and jambalaya lunches will be sold for $5.

APIL basketball games

The Ascension Parish Inclusive League is hosting basketball games at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Saturday at the Galvez Middle School gym.

The all-inclusive league also will have games Feb. 2 and Feb. 9.

Retired athletes to speak

The Rock Church is hosting “All Pro Dad Simulcast” on Saturday, featuring former professional athletes.

The simulcast, which originates from Indianapolis, Ind., will include talks by former Super Bowl-winning head coach Tony Dungy, retired NFL player Lorenzo Neal, retired NBA player Clark Kellogg and former college head coach Tommy Bowden, a news release from the church states.

Fathers and grandfathers are invited to the program, which is set from noon to 4 p.m. at the church, 42080 Churchpoint Road, Gonzales.

Lunch will be provided.

Pancake fundraiser

Pancakes and sausage are on the menu Sunday for the Gonzales Lions Club’s annual All-You-Can-Eat Pancakes fundraiser from 7 a.m. to noon at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center gym.

Tickets are $7 and include a breakfast of pancakes, sausage, juice, milk and coffee and entertainment by Center Stage Performing Arts Academy students.

Lions Club seeks campers

Members of the Gonzales Lions Club are accepting applications for four summer camps held at the Louisiana Lions Camp north of Leesville.

Camps, which start June 2, are for youths ages 5 to 15 with pulmonary disorders; youths ages 8 to 19 with mental disabilities; ages 6 to 14 with diabetes; and youths ages 7 to 19 with visual, hearing or orthopedic impairments.

The camps are free. Area Lions Clubs sponsor children’s visits to the camps.

Women’s program

The Ascension Counseling Center is planning to hold an “Empowering Women of Worth” workshop series at its Gonzales office.

Women 25 and older are invited to take part in a six-week series to help women achieve meaning and success in life and understand why they struggle with self-esteem, a news release from the center states.

The group will meet at 1112 S.E. Ascension Complex Blvd., Gonzales. Dates and times are not yet finalized.

The cost is $10 per week.
