Gonzales man accused of dealing methamphetamine _lowres

Ascension Parish sheriff’s narcotics detectives on Thursday arrested an accused methamphetamine dealer during a traffic stop at the intersection of La. 44 and La. 42.

The detectives pulled over Jessie James, 37, of Gonzales, for driving recklessly, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office. They discovered James had multiple active warrants for issuing bad checks, the release says.

When detectives searched his car, they found an unspecified amount of methamphetamine, the release says.

James, 12198 W. Main St., was booked on counts of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, careless operation, failure to signal and issuing worthless checks.

His bail was set at $20,380, the release says.
