Jefferson Parish officials will hold public meetings Tuesday and Wednesday to discuss several millage propositions on the May 3 ballot.

A series of property taxes are up for renewal that day including parishwide taxes of up to 3.5 mills that go toward criminal justice, culture, parks, economic development and services for senior citizens.

Large areas of the parish also will decide whether to renew taxes for street lighting, and residents in Grand Isle will vote on whether to continue road lighting and ambulance service taxes.

If the renewals are approved by voters, the taxes would be renewed for 10 years.

Tuesday’s meeting will be held in the Parish Council chambers at the Yenni Building, 1221 Elmwood Park Blvd.

Wednesday’s meeting will be held in the council chambers of the General Government Building at 200 Derbigny St., Gretna.

Both meetings will start at 6 p.m.

The forums will be broadcast on JPTV, the parish’s public access channel, and on Cox Channel 6 and AT&T U-Verse Channel 99, as well as on the parish’s website,
