Residents of Bedico Creek subdivision are under a boil order Monday, following repairs to a water main that was damaged during construction work, St. Tammany Parish announced in a news release.
Tammany Utilities had to turn the water off to repair the main, and a precautionary boil advisory will be in place when water service is restored. It will remain in place until Tammany Utilities rescinds the order. The earliest that could happen is Wednesday, the parish said.
Residents should boil water for one full minute in a clean container before using it for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth or in food preparation.
Tammany Utilities will lift the advisory after being notified that the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals has tested samples and found them to be safe.
Customers will be notified when the boil advisory is ended by hand- delivered notices or door hangers and signs placed throughout the neighborhood.
