UPDATE (4:20 p.m.):
A 17-year-old teenager was arrested Sunday in connection to the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Jontrell Wells, the Kenner Police Department said.
Renee Kevon Holloway is charged with second degree murder, KPD said, and is still in custody with no bond amount set for his release.
The shooting happened after Wells and other people were seen arguing outside of a 16-year-old's party in the 600 block of Compromise Street Saturday night about a neighborhood rivalry, witnesses said.
KPD said additional suspects are being sought after multiple shell casings of different caliber guns were found at the scene of the shooting.
An 18-year-old Kenner man was killed in a shooting Saturday night outside a Sweet 16 party at the Council of Aging building in the 600 block of Compromise Street in Kenner.
Jontrell Wells was transported to University Hospital, where he died, Kenner police said in a news release.
Police gave this account of the shooting: The shooting occurred around 10:45 p.m. after an off-duty officer providing security at the party was called outside concerning a possible disturbance. As the officer investigated, gunshots rang out and one person would found dead at Compromise and 6th streets. CPR was administered to the victim before he was transported to the hospital.
