A 71-year-old Bogalusa woman died after her car was hit head-on by another driver in Waldheim in St. Tammany Parish on Friday afternoon, Louisiana State Police said.
The crash occurred about 1:05 p.m. on Louisiana 21, just north of Louisiana 1084. Judith Jenkins was heading north on Louisiana 21 in her 2008 Honda CRV when she was hit head-on by a 2007 Mitsubishi pickup that was headed south and being driven by Bryant Scott Tanner, 28, of Ponchatoula, State Police said.
Tanner was entering a curve that banked to the right when he crossed into oncoming traffic, State Police said. Though she was wearing a seatbelt, Jenkins died on the scene after the collision. First responders airlifted Tanner to a hospital, where he was receiving treatment for severe injuries, police said.
State Police didn’t say whether they anticipated any criminal or traffic charges would be filed, noting that the investigation into the crash was ongoing and that the agency would consult the St. Tammany Parish District Attorney’s Office when the probe was completed.
