The one victim who survived the Friday morning shooting in Gentilly, which took three lives inside of a home on a quiet block, remains hospitalized, according to a family member.
The 12-year-old, A'Miya Smith, is the daughter of Monique Smith, who was killed along with her two sons, 6-year-old son Jumyrin and 10-year-old son Justin.
"She was a hardworking young mom, and when she got with her family and friends she liked to have a good time," said a cousin, Chrisey Smith. "She loved all her children -- her children were everything to her. She worked and spent time with her kids, that was it."
"To find that children were involved, people were involved, you know, multiple people, we're working to get the answers to all of that, but what we can say, it really rattles everybody," Harrison said. "That's why you see us all out here."
Chrisey Smith said Monique Smith worked at Ted's Frostop in Uptown New Orleans. According to WWL-TV, Frostop closed its doors after news of the killings.
