A group of people standing in an area in Mid-City were robbed at gunpoint around 7:05 p.m., the NOPD reported in a daily log of crime reports.
A grey Nissan Altima pulled up to the corner of the location where the group, composed of a 28-year-old woman, a 24-year-old man and a 34-year-old man, stood. A man exited the vehicle's passenger side and pointed a semi-automatic gun at the woman's stomach and demanded money. The older man handed the man his wallet, and the man fled towards Banks Street.
Other robberies reported include:
- A 40-year-old woman was robbed at gunpoint in the Trémé around 3:36 p.m. Friday. A man reportedly put a gun to her neck in the 2400 block of Orleans Avenue, grabbed her purse from her lap and fled towards North Claiborne Street.
- A 66-year-old woman was robbed around 5:41 p.m. in Touro by a man with a firearm as she opened her door. The man pushed her from behind and demanded her purse. He fled after struggling with the woman.
- As he worked on a house around 11:58 a.m. Friday in the Lower 9th Ward, a 31-year-old man was approached by a man demanding money. After the victim gave him his cellphone and wallet, the man held him at gunpoint and walked him to another house on the block under construction. The man pointed the gun at another victim, a 37-year-old man, and demanded his money. The victim gave the man his wallet before the man left.
- After telling his acquaintance he did not have any money, the 64-year-old man was struck repeatedly in the head by a bicycle lock by his acquaintance around 8:37 a.m. Friday in Central City around the 1800 block of O.C. Haley Boulevard. The attacker took the cash from the man, and EMS transported the man to a local hospital.
