A man was found shot to death inside a vehicle early Monday morning, New Orleans police said.
Shortly after 6 a.m., police found the male victim in the driver's seat of a dark gray SUV with a gunshot wound to the head. The vehicle was found in the 3600 block of Erato Street in the B.W. Cooper area.
Investigators believe the incident occurred a short distance away near the intersection of South Rocheblave and Thalia streets. Police did not say how they believe the vehicle got to Erato Street.

In other matters recently handled by local authorities:
• There were at least five sexual assaults reported Sunday to New Orleans police.
About 11:35 a.m., a boy in the 5100 block of St. Ferdinand Drive in Gentilly reported to police that another boy raped him.
At 1:45 p.m., two women in the 6100 block of South Claiborne Avenue reported to police that they were sexually assaulted by up to seven men. WWL-TV reported that the women were students at Tulane University, and they had met two of the men at an Uptown business.
About 3:05 p.m. at the corner of Rev. John Raphael Jr. Way and Jackson Avenue, a child reported being raped by a man, police said.
A boy at the corner of Berkley and Somerset in Algiers reported that another boy raped him about 4:10 p.m., police said.
About 5:55 p.m., in the 2200 block of Piety Street in the Florida area neighborhood, a girl reported she was raped by a boy, police said.
• New Orleans police on Monday released more details about a 2:20 p.m. shooting Sunday in the 5900 block of Lafaye Street in Gentilly.
A 17-year-old was in the yard with four friends when two men jumped out of a four-door gray Nissan and began firing guns, police said. The victim was shot in the wrist, and paramedics took him to a hospital for treatment.
• New Orleans police said they probed two robberies and an attempted one on Sunday.
The first robbery occurred when someone approached a 38-year-old woman at the corner of Montpelier Street and Fairmont Drive in Gentilly about 2:45 p.m., put something against the small of her back, and successfully demanded her money as she withdrew cash from an ATM. The robber fled after getting the money, police said.
The other robbery occurred about 10:40 p.m. in the 3300 block of St. Charles Avenue on the edge of the Milan neighborhood, when a man robbed a restaurant with a drive-thru at gunpoint while an 18-year-old woman who worked there arrived for her job, police said. The suspect fled in a white Audi sedan, and no one was hurt.
• On April 13, New Orleans police said, a man shot out a crime camera near the corner of North Robertson and Kerlerec streets in the 7th Ward.
• Four men and one teen were arrested in connection with a break-in and Belle Chasse and the theft of three dirt bikes, Plaquemines Parish authorities said Monday. Deputies are searching for a sixth suspect.
Those arrested are Donte Harris, 18; Jeremiah Washington, 24; Terran Williams, 20; Stephen Schulz, 18; and a minor boy whose name was not released, the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office said. Carlos Pavia, 18, is wanted.
The break-in was reported on Feb. 13.
