A Slidell-area couple has been arrested after a St. Tammany task force found drugs and signs of dog-fighting at the couple's home, the Sheriff's Office said Friday.

During a search Wednesday, investigators discovered and seized about 420 grams of cocaine, about 28 grams of marijuana, seven bottles of promethazine, assorted drug paraphernalia indicative of drug distribution, a money-counting machine, $2,066 in cash, and four vehicles.

Several pit bulls were also located there. Some appeared to have facial and head lacerations commonly associated with illegal dog fighting, STPSO said. Animal Services was contacted, and 15 dogs were taken.

Michael Ratcliff, 40, and his live-in girlfriend Antinette Johnson, 29, were arrested. Seven children, ranging from 4 to 12 years old, were also present at the home. The children were released into the care of family members, the Sheriff's Office said.

More details to come.
