Kenneth Polite, the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Louisiana, has been named to a national advisory board for recently confirmed U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch.
The Lower 9th Ward native will serve on the Attorney General’s Advisory Committee with five other U.S. attorneys, providing Lynch with a local perspective on national policies. Serving on the committee may further raise the national profile of a young U.S. attorney who was appointed to the post in 2013. Polite is one of 93 U.S. attorneys overseeing federal judicial districts around the country.
Lynch previously served as the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of New York. She was sworn in after a lengthy confirmation process that included opposition from Sen. David Vitter on April 27.
