HAMMOND - DeShawn Patterson scored four of his 11 points in overtime, including a go-ahead basket with 2:15 remaining and Southeastern Louisiana withstood a pair of Bulldog rallies to post a 72-69 men’s college basketball victory Wednesday night at the University Center.
Brandon Fortenberry hit a key jumper with 39 seconds left for a 68-64 lead and Louisiana Tech never got closer than three points the rest of the game. Fortenberry finished with 20 points and seven assists for Southeastern (4-2). Roosevelt Johnson added 17 points and seven rebounds.
The win was Southeastern’s first over Louisiana Tech (2-4) since a 74-72 victory on Jan. 18, 1966, snapping a 15-game losing streak to the Bulldogs.
J.L. Lewis had 20 points and 11 rebounds for Louisiana Tech.
WASHINGTON STATE 69, GRAMBLING 37: In Pullman, Wash., Faisal Aden scored 12 points to lead Washington State. Post player Brock Motum added the first double-double of his career, 11 points and 10 rebounds, for the Cougars (3-4).
DaVonte Lacy added 10 points for Washington State.
Peter Roberson led Grambling State (0-6) with 12 points and eight rebounds. Xavier Rogers added 10 points for the Tigers, who suited up only seven players.
OUR LADY OF THE LAKE 112, LSU-SHREVEPORT 94: In San Antonio, Josh Orta scored 31 points for Our Lady of the Lake (4-3, 2-0 Red River Athletic Conference).
Derrick Parker led LSUS (3-4, 1-1) with 31 points and 13 rebounds.
MCNEESE 68, ULM 60: In Monroe, Ashlyn Baggett led McNeese State with 23 points, while Caitlyn Baggett added 19, and the Cowgirls (6-1) held off a late Louisiana Monroe rally at Fant-Ewing Coliseum.
Elizabeth Torres led ULM (0-8) with 17 points and seven assists, while sophomore Ashleigh Simmons added 12 points and eight rebounds.
LSU-SHREVEPORT 71, OUR LADY OF THE LAKE 54: In San Antonio, Jenna Diakos scored 26 points and had rebounds for LSU-Shreveport (4-2, 2-0 Red River Athletic Conference).
Treshenia Solomon scored 17 and Nashae Owens had 11 for Our Lady of the Lake (4-2, 1-1).
MCNEESE STATE AT ULL: McNeese State heads to Lafayette and a basketball encounter with I-10 rival Louisiana-Lafayette at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Patrick Richard leads McNeese State (3-3) in scoring with 15.7 points per game, followed by Jeremie Mitchell (12.5) and Dontae Cannon (10.0).
Kadeem Coleby averages 11.5 points and J.J. Thomas 10.1 for ULL (3-5).
Thursday’s game will be the 86th in the series between the two schools. ULL leads the series 50-35, McNeese State has won the past two games, including a 69-66 win a year ago.
UNO AT DILLARD: In New Orleans, the University of New Orleans visits Dent Hall on Dillard’s campus at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
Antonio Wertz and Lovell Cook are averaging 11.6 points per game to pace the Privateers (4-).
Dillard (0-9) is led by Terry Church at 12.3 points per game.
UNO AT DILLARD: In New Orleans, Mirjam Sipos (12.1 points ) and Yosha Watson (9.0 points, 7.8 rebounds) will lead the University of New Orleans (0-7) against Dillard at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Dent Hall.
