NEW ORLEANS — Patrick Christovich of New Orleans started the day three strokes up on the field and pulled away to take his second consecutive Louisiana Golf Association Mid-Amateur Championship by nine shots over runner-up Brent Struthers of Baton Rouge.

T.C. Ford of Mandeville and Harlan Bush of New Orleans, tied for second entering final round play and paired with Christovich, couldn’t keep up as Christovich shot a one-under par 35 on the front nine with birdies on Nos. 5 and 9 sandwiched around a bogey five on No. 7.

Struthers, playing in the group just ahead of Christovich, had birdies on Nos. 1 and 4 but Christovich put the championship out of reach with birdies on Nos. 11 and 12 and finished the day with a birdie on No. 16 and two closing pars to shoot four-under par 68 on Sunday for a 54-hole total of 11-under par 205.

Struthers finished with an even par 72 on Sunday to shoot two-under 214, with Ford ending up in third place alone at one-under par 215 after a 75 Sunday.

Todd McPherson of New Orleans, Cade Hebert of Rayne and 2009 champion Matt Nicholas of Lake Charles finished at even par 216 to tie for fourth, while Hammond’s, Grady Brame (217) was seventh. Brad Landry of Scott and Robbie Rhodes of Slidell at (219) tied for eighth, while Jeremy Guilbeau of Port Sulphur and Chris Donaldson of Metairie (220) tied for 10th.
