HAMMOND - Southeastern Louisiana University football coach Mike Lucas announced Wednesday that former Ole Miss quarterback Nathan Stanley has transferred to play for the Lions beginning in the 2011 season.

Stanley, a 6-foot-5, 215-pound junior, will be eligible to play immediately for the Lions, members of the Southland Conference in the Division I Football Championship Subdivision. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.

In two seasons at Ole Miss, Stanley completed 28-of-55 passes for 424 yards and four touchdowns. Stanley saw action in four games for the Rebels in 2010, earning a start in the season opener against Jacksonville State. He threw for 261 yards on 17-of-32 passes for Ole Miss as he served as the backup to Jeremiah Masoli.

“We feel with (junior) Brian Young returning at quarterback, he was the only one we had with game experience, Lucas said. “By adding Nathan into that group, we’re going to allow him to compete for the starting job.”
