MACON, Ga. — Brett Comer scored 21 points and Florida Gulf Coast claimed the first NCAA tournament berth in school history, knocking off top-seeded Mercer 88-75 in the Atlantic Sun championship game Saturday.
Sherwood Brown added 16 points and 11 rebounds as Florida Gulf Coast (24-10) pulled away after a back-and-forth first half.
Brown sparked a 14-3 spurt that broke open the tight game, sending Florida Gulf Coast to the NCAAs in just their sixth season as a Division I program.
Travis Smith led Mercer (23-11) with 16 points.
Belmont 70, Murray State 68, OT: In Nashville, Tenn., Kerron Johnson hit a 10-foot pull-up jumper with 1.2 seconds left, and Belmont capped its first season in the Ohio Valley Conference with the tournament championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
The Bruins (26-6) had won five tournament championships in the Atlantic Sun.
Murray State fell to 21-10.
Harvard 65, Cornell 56: In Cambridge, Mass., Laurent Rivard scored 17 points and Siyani Chambers added as Harvard (19-9, 11-3) won its third straight Ivy League championship.
Miles Asafo-Adjei scored 15 points for Cornell (13-18, 5-9).
