Holy Cross junior running back Tre Turner committed to Mississippi State Tuesday night.
Turner attended the Bulldogs’ win over Auburn on Saturday in Starkvill and plans to play football and baseball in college.
“I think the thing that helped him reach that decision was the football slash baseball aspect of it,” said Holy Cross football coach Eric Rebaudo.
Turner also had football offers that included Arkansas, Florida, Ole Miss and Nebraska. He is rated a 4-star prospect and ranked No. 161 in the nation in the ESPN Top 300 for the Class of 2016.
Turner has rushed 85 times for 509 yards and five touchdowns this season for the Tigers (4-2).
“He is just a great athlete,” Rebaudo said. “He is probably the fastest guy to come through here, being clocked as fast as a 4.35. He can stick his nose into the pile and he has the speed to run away from the secondary.”
Holy Cross will play Brother Martin on Friday at Tad Gormley Stadium.
See Thursday's edition of The New Orleans Advocate for more on Turner's commitment.
