St. Amant High’s Kara Gremillion has been selected as Louisiana’s Gatorade Player of the Year for softball, according to a press release.

The senior shortstop led the Gators to the Class 5A semifinals to close out her stellar career. Gremillion batted .584 with 12 doubles, 6 home runs and 36 RBIs to go along with 53 runs scored.

A University of Louisiana at Lafayette softball signee, Gremillion had a .941 slugging percentage and a .645 on-base percentage.

Gremillion was a multi-sport standout who was voted The Advocate’s Girls Athlete of the Year the last two years. She was a district MVP and All-Metro selection in volleyball, basketball and softball. Gremillion's career softball numbers include a .528 batting average with 78 extra base hits. She had 17 home runs, 193 runs scored, 119 RBIs, a .614 on-base percentage and an .870 slugging percentage.
