LUTCHER — Scoring 50 or more points in a game is not something every high school football team can do. Seventh-ranked Lutcher of Class 3A did better than that in just one half.

The Bulldogs scored 54 first-half points en route to a 68-20 victory over McMain in a District 9-3A game Friday night.

Quarterback Jontre Kirklin again led the way for LHS (3-1, 1-0). Kirklin completed 5 of 9 passes for 171 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran for 45 yards on 15 carries and scored a TD.

Al’Dontre Davis caught all three TD passes from Kirklin, including a 98-yarder. Davis also had a 51-yard TD catch.

Rashaun Brown (27-yard fumble return) and Anthony Davis (52-yard interception) provided defensive TDs for Lutcher.

CATHOLIC-PC 35, VARNADO 20: In New Roads, a 23-point third quarter helped CHSPC (1-3) give coach David Simoneaux his first career win.

Lucas Patin ran for 143 on 15 carries and scored one TD. Patin was one of four Hornets to score rushing TDs. Boyd Smith added 81 yards on 19 carries with a TD.

Boyd scored on a 61-yard run, while Patin had a 45-yard TD run in the nondistrict game that matched two 1A teams.

ASSUMPTION 24, LAKESHORE 23: In Napoleonville, both teams traded scores as Assumption edged Lakeshore on the final play of double-overtime game on a failed kick by Nate Facaine in the 4A matchup.

The Titans and Mustangs scored 10 points apiece in regulation in a game that included two safeties and one scoreless quarter.

AHS quarterback Daron Williams led all scorers with two rushing touchdowns. One TD came in the fourth quarter and the other was in the first overtime period.

Lakeshore quarterback Facaine opened the scoring connecting on a 7-yard pass to Adam Ybarzabal in the second quarter.
