The trick-or-treaters aren’t the only ones having their Saturday plans altered because of Mother Nature.

Three high school football games scheduled for Saturday will be played earlier in the day to try to beat the inclement weather projected to arrive in the New Orleans area.

The highly anticipated showdown between John Curtis and Brother Martin will be played at 11 a.m. at Yenni Stadium.

The game, between the Raiders, ranked No. 1 all season long in The New Orleans Advocate Large School Super 10, and the No. 3 Patriots was originally scheduled for 2 p.m.

“We wanted to try to get it in early and avoid getting delayed because of the possibility of lightning or bad weather,” Patriots coach coach J.T. Curtis said.

The other two games scheduled for Saturday, both at Hoss Memtsas Stadium, also changed game times.

Helen Cox will play Chalmette at 11:30 a.m. That District 8-5A game was originally scheduled for 2 p.m.

The second game at Memtsas, Thomas Jefferson vs. South Plaquemines, will be played at 3:30 p.m.

That game was originally scheduled for 7 p.m.
