Yeager named 7-3A Coach of the Year

Chris Yeager was named the District 7-3A baseball Coach of the Year.

Chris Yeager has been named the Hannan High baseball coach.

“Coach Yeager brings a wealth of coaching experience to Hannan,” Principal Charles Lator said in an emailed statement. “In addition, he is respected by coaches and players at every level — from high school to the pros.”

Yeager will replace Boomer Nunez, whose contract was not renewed after eight seasons as baseball coach.

Nunez’s record at Hannan was 129-99, and he led the Hawks to the Class 1A state quarterfinals in 2010.

Yeager, who holds a doctorate in Human Performance from the University of Southern Mississippi, served as hitting and pitching mechanics analyst for the San Diego Padres Player Development Department from 2004-06 and for the Seattle Mariners from 2009-11.

He is also a published researcher and author and has produced several baseball related videos.
