John Curtis offensive lineman Willie Allen has been named to the CBS MaxPreps Preseason All-American team.
“It means a lot,” Allen said. “That’s everybody’s dream. But I am not worrying about those type of things. When you perform on the field, those type of things will take care of themselves. My mind right now is just focused on trying to help my team win a state championship.
The 6-foot-7, 310-pound Allen is entering his third season as a starter at left tackle for the Patriots.
Allen is rated a five-star recruit by ESPN and the fourth- best player in the country, regardless of position. He is rated a four-star recruit by 247Sports.
Allen has yet to make a commitment, but has a long list of scholarship offers, including almost every school in the Southeastern Conference.
He said he will likely make a decision in December or January.
“I want to take my time, enjoy the process and take all my visits, so I can make sure I make the right decision,” Allen said.
Allen was the only player from Louisiana to be named to the preseason team.
