Former Walker High point guard Kacie Fountain will be a late signee when she signs with Kentucky-based Murray State later this week.
Walker coach Korey Arnold is convinced the Racers are getting a steal. Fountain committed to Murray on Monday.
“She (Fountain) is by far the toughest kid I’ve ever coached, and she will be an asset to Murray State with her leadership and her desire to make others around her better,” Arnold said.
The 5-foot-7 Fountain came to Walker as a senior after earning all-district honors for Slidell-based Northshore High as a junior.
Despite playing much of the season with a torn ACL, Fountain helped the Wildcats finish as the Class 5A runner-up. She averaged 13.4 points, 7.6 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 3.0 steals per game.
