Wide receiver Shelby Christy, who is set to sign with Mississippi State, is one of seven Dutchtown High athletes set to sign with colleges at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the school.

Six of the DHS signees are football players. The seven signees for the Griffins and a total of seven signees for Scotlandville High — four in track and three in football — lead the long list of signings set as the NCAA’s winter signing period begins.

The area’s two other non-LSU SEC football signees — University defensive lineman Tim Williams (Alabama) and Port Allen linebacker Darian Claiborne (Texas A&M) — also are expected to sign.

Christy committed to State last summer, while DHS kicker/punter Tyler Sarrazin committed to Southern Mississippi over the weekend after first committing to Nicholls State. Griffins offensive lineman Brian Hernandez also committed to Nicholls and is set to sign.

Offensive lineman Tyler Chandler and defensive back Justin Sampson are scheduled to sign with Mississippi College. Quarterback Mason Nickens is scheduled to sign a baseball scholarship with LSU-Eunice.

Defensive lineman Tanzel Smart is committed to Tulane, and girls track jumps/sprints specialist D’Lacia McKinley is set to sign with Ole Miss to lead the Scotlandville signees.

Receiver Larry Clark (Texas Southern) and defensive back Dondre Dobbins (Texas-San Antonio) are the other Scotlandville football players expected to sign.

Girls sprinter Takyra Beverly (Grambling) and two boys track competitors bound for William Penn, middle distance specialist Miguel Decuir and sprint/jumps specialist Jaylin Thomas, round out the group of Scotlandville signees.
