Around the Track

It’s Derby Day here in Louisiana at the Fair Grounds. I make that point because this morning it is Derby Day in Dubai where I’m in attendance. On tap in Dubai at Meydan Race Course is the richest race in the world the Dubai World Cup with a 10 million dollar purse headed by California Chrome. It’s also Oaks Day as the 49th running of the Fair Grounds Oaks is on the undercard headed up by local stakes winners Venus Valentine and Stageplay. But, these three-year-old fillies will have to fend off the California challengers in the form of Land Over Sea and Street Fancy. The Fair Grounds Oaks has been a winner’s circle pipeline to the Kentucky Oaks recently with 5 out of the last 10 winners of the Fair Grounds Oaks going on to victory in the Kentucky Oaks.

Best Bet

Our Best Bet today will be in Race 10 - #6 Mo Tom. Today will be a special day in Louisiana Sports History as the whodatnation will cheer on and send Mo Tom to the Kentucky Derby to represent the Black and Gold. Lanerie will have him positioned well for a late closing run that the field will not be able to hold off. Good Luck and May they all come home safely.
