Around the Track
No rest for the weary or the horses as we take a day off for Ash Wednesday and then right back at it here at the historic Fair Grounds. Taking a quick peek at the trainer and jockey standings we see Florent Geroux now has an insurmountable lead in the jockey race as he has been on fire as of late. He leads Robby Alborado by nearly 30 wins – 74-45. In the trainer’s race Brad Cox has opened some daylight between his nearest competitors. Cox leads Tom Amoss 31-26 and then Joe Sharp, Al Stall, Jr. Michael Stidham and Steve Asmussen are all within two wins of each other at 23 and 21. The trainer’s race should be a good sprint to the finish as Brad Cox tries to win his first Fair Grounds racing title.
Our Best Bet today will be in Race 6 – # 1 Classic Brahms. This one drops down a bit and gets the rail and should prevail today. Good Luck and May they all come home safely.
