The Pelicans travel to Charlotte to face the Hornets at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Spectrum Center. Here are three things to know:
1. TRIPLE DOUBLE
DeMarcus Cousins’ super-sized stat line Monday (44 points, 24 rebounds, 10 assists) caught the attention of the NBA. He became the first player since Kareem Abdul Jabbar in 1972 to record at least 40 points, 20 rebounds and 10 assists. He’s also the first New Orleans player since Chris Paul to record multiple triple-doubles in a single season.
2. RUMOR MILL
The Hornets were thrust into NBA spotlight this week when ESPN reported that All-Star guard Kemba Walker was being shopped for a trade. While owner Michael Jordan denied it in the Charlotte Observer, it has been the dominant story line surrounding the Hornets over the past several days.
3. FREE HOOPS
The Pelicans played four overtime periods in their past four games, pulling out victories in all three contests that were decided after regulation. In all, New Orleans has played six overtime games this season, tied for the most in the NBA, racking up a 4-2 record. No other team has more than two overtime victories.
