Pelicans Suns Basketball

New Orleans Pelicans forward Anthony Davis shoots over Phoenix Suns forward Josh Jackson during a game Nov. 24 in Phoenix.

The Pelicans return to the Smoothie King Center for a game at 7 p.m. Monday against the lowly Phoenix Suns. Here are three things to know:

1. RIDING HIGH: The Pelicans enter the week carrying their longest winning streak of the season. Sunday’s 123-121 overtime win over the Milwaukee Bucks marked their fifth consecutive victory, surpassing the four-game streak they pieced together just before DeMarcus Cousins was lost for the season.

2. RUNNING LATE: New Orleans has won each of its past six overtime contests and have played at least one extra period three different times over their past five games. The Pelicans are now 7-2 in overtime games this year, the best mark in the NBA.

3. NOT SO CHARITABLE: In Sunday’s win, the Pelicans were badly outscored at the free throw line, allowing the Bucks to tally 15 more points from the charity stripe. In fact, New Orleans didn’t even attempt a free throw for the final 20 minutes of the game, while Milwaukee made 13 of 14 attempts during that span.
