New Orleans has added another wide receiver.

The team signed wide receiver Simmie Cobbs off Washington's practice squad. He takes the place of tight end Erik Swoope, who was waived with a failed physical designation after being claimed off waivers from the Indianapolis Colts.

Cobbs said Washington offered to promote him to the 53-man roster once he received an offer from the Saints, but the wide receiver said he couldn't pass up New Orleans' offer.

"It wasn't any hard feelings toward them, but I just felt after a certain amount of time and proving myself every day, to only be given a chance once someone else gave me a chance, it was just an easier choice to make," Cobbs said.

He added that having the chance to play with Drew Brees was also enticing.

"That's just a no-brainer to come here," Cobbs said.

The 6-foot-3, 220-pound receiver caught 72 passes for 841 yards with eight touchdowns last year for Indiana. He hooked on with Washington as an undrafted wide receiver.

During the preseason, he caught seven passes for 109 yard with one touchdown.
