New Orleans Pelicans owners Tom and Gayle Benson watch the team against the Utah Jazz in the second half of an NBA basketball game in the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, La. Monday, Feb. 5, 2018.

Tom Benson, the owner of the New Orleans Saints and the New Orleans Pelicans, was recently admitted to Ochsner Medical Center with flu symptoms, according to a statement from Greg Bensel, the organization's senior vice president of communications.

Benson, 90, has been admitted to the intensive care unit and is resting comfortably, according to the statement.

Benson's wife, Gayle, was also part of the statement.

"Mrs. Benson requests and sincerely appreciates your thoughts and prayers," Bensel wrote in the statement.

Benson was also admitted to Ochsner Medical Center in October following the Saints' win over the Chicago Bears for precautionary reasons after being worn out following a long weekend, and he was released a few days later.
