Marcel Jones

Position: guard/tackle.

Years in the NFL: 2.

Acquired: Draft (2012, seventh round).

College: Nebraska.

Highlights: Spent all of 2013 on the Saints practice squad after being on injured reserve (knee) all of 2012. As a college senior, he was All-Big Ten honorable mention while blocking for a rushing attack that was No. 15 in the country and third in the conference.

Strengths: He is comfortable playing both tackle and

guard, and he’s bulky at 6-foot-7, 320 pounds.

Must continue to:

Deepen his understanding of the Saints protection

schemes, to which he has been exposed for three preseasons now.

Projection: The Saints love their offensive line backups to be able to play more than one position. He played well in preseason opener filling in for guard Jahri Evans and has a chance at depth spot.
