Tim Hightower‘s inspirational comeback story may continue in New Orleans.
The Saints are working to bring Hightower back, according to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapaport, after an impressive four-game run as the starter after Mark Ingram‘s season-ending injury.
Hightower, who nearly made the Saints out of training camp, then came back after Khiry Robinson broke his leg midseason, averaged 21 carries, 81.8 yards and scored four touchdowns in four starts after Ingram was placed on injured reserve.
With Robinson an unrestricted free agent after the Saints decided not to offer him a tender, bringing back Hightower would solidify a backfield that already has Ingram, C.J. Spiller and Marcus Murphyreturning.
New Orleans may be trying to lock up Hightower before free agency begins on Wednesday.
