The New Orleans Saints have signed veteran cornerback Tony Carter, according to a league source.

Carter, a 29-year-old in his seventh league, has spent most of his career with the Denver Broncos, but he’s played most recently in Indianapolis.

The NFL Network’s Rand Getlin reported the news first.

A 5-foot-9, 175-pounder, Carter may have been signed to help replace Damian Swann, who suffered his third concussion of the season against Tampa Bay.

Carter, a Florida State product, has never been a full-time starter, but he’s played in 45 games for the Broncos, Patriots and Colts, making three interceptions in his career.
