The Saints signed linebacker A.J. Kelin to a four-year deal worth $24 million, according to a source.

The deal, however, is not actually as it seems on its face. The final year of the contract will void if he's still with with the Saints on the last day of the 2019 league year.

So, in actuality, the contract is closer to a three-year deal worth $15 million. Or, the Saints can walk away after two seasons with little financial burden, which could turn the contract into a two-year deal worth around $10 million since almost all of the guaranteed money is in those years.

Here are the contract details:

Signing bonus: $4 million

2017

Base: $1.7 million (fully guaranteed)

Workout bonus: $100,000

2018

Base: $4.1 million ($3.7 million guaranteed)

Workout bonus: $100,000

2019

Base: $4.1 million

Roster bonus: $400,000 (due on 15th day of league year)

Per game roster bonus: up to $400,000

Workout bonus: $100,000

2020

Base: $9 million (voids if on roster last day of 2019 league year)
