Between the lines: Five observations from Friday’s practice session _lowres

Advocate file photo by PATRICK DENNIS -- Saints offensive lineman Tim Lelito, right, blocks defensive lineman Brandon Deaderick during training camp. Lelito, normally a right guard, had to fill in at center Sunday after Jonathan Goodwin was injured.

1The intensity remains high. The fireworks continued as Junior Galette and Mark Ingram, Zach Strief and Tyrunn Walker, and George Uko and Manase Foketi got into dustups.

2 For those keeping up with the kicker battle: Derek Dimke hit from 32, 47, and 47 yards. Shayne Graham hit from 32 and 47, but missed from 47 yards.

3 Defensive lineman Brandon Deaderick is turning it around. After a slow start, he had two decisive wins in a 1-on-1 drill. Offensive lineman Jahri Evans also had a big win, standing Akiem Hicks up in the same drill.

4 Cam Jordan, who had his leg rolled up on during Thursday’s session, was limited Friday.

5 Safety Jairus Byrd dropped a punt. He remains limited as he continues to work his way back from offseason back surgery.
