Advocate staff photo by ELIOT KAMENITZ -- Saints center Jonathan Goodwin lies injured on the ground after suffering a high ankle sprain during the third quarter of the Saints' 20-9 win over the Vikings on Sunday in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Tim Lelito, normally a right guard, moved over to fill in for Goodwin.

Six Saints sat out team drills at practice Wednesday: TE Ben Watson (groin), C Jonathan Goodwin (ankle), RB Mark Ingram (hand), LB David Hawthorne (ankle/knee), S Marcus Ball (hamstring) and FB Erik Lorig (ankle). LB Curtis Lofton (shoulder) was limited.

Watson and Goodwin were hurt in Sunday’s 20-9 victory at home against Minnesota (1-2), which improved the Saints’ record to 1-2. Ingram and Hawthorne were hurt in a Sept. 14 loss at Cleveland. Lorig and Ball have missed the Saints’ three regular-season games with their injuries.

The Saints visit Dallas (2-1) this upcoming Sunday. For the Cowboys, five players were sidelined for team drills at practice Wednesday: QB Tony Romo (back), DT Davon Coleman (knee), LB Rolando McClain (groin), DT Terrell McClain (groin) and DT Henry Melton (hamstring).

WR Dez Bryant (shoulder) and DE Anthony Spencer (knee) were limited. LB Justin Durant (groin) and TE Gavin Escobar (knee) were listed on the injury report but practiced fully.

Since coach Sean Payton took over the Saints in 2006, New Orleans is 4-1 against Dallas.
