The Tulane baseball team broke loose in the final four innings Tuesday, scoring a 12-7 victory over Southern Miss at MGM Park in Biloxi, Mississippi.
Tulane, leading 3-2 at the time, scored three runs in the sixth inning, once both the seventh and eighth and four times in the ninth to pull away. The Wave (14-7) got a home run from third baseman Hunter Hope, his sixth, and two-hit nights from Hope, catcher Jake Rogers, center fielder Richard Carthon and shortstop Jake Willsey.
Willsey had three RBIs, and Hope scored three times.
J.P. France (1-0) allowed four runs and seven hits in 5.2 innings for Tulane. Dan Rankin got the save by allowing an unearned run in 1.1 innings of relief.
Taylor Braley homered for Southern Miss, which fell to 16-6.
