Express 12, Zephyrs 4
Round Rock, Texas — The Round Rock Express offense erupted for 12 runs and snapped a four-game losing streak with a 12-4 win over the New Orleans Zephyrs at Dell Diamond on Friday.
Express outfielder Brad Snyder drilled a two-run home run in the first inning. The homer was Snyder’s league-leading 16th of the season as he has hit one in three consecutive games.
Round Rock added to the lead in the fourth inning when a wild pitch allowed Jared Hoying to score making it 4-0. Express starter Miles Mikolas (3-0) made his first start in five years and worked five innings, limited the Zephyrs to two hits and earned the win.
The Z’s bats came alive in the sixth inning scoring a pair of runs on RBI hits from Justin Bour and Mark Canha. The Z’s added a run in the seventh to cut the lead to 5-3.
The Express scored five runs in the seventh inning off the Zephyrs bullpen to put the game away. Anthony DeSclafani (0-1) pitched 4.1 innings allowing five runs on six hits, walked four and took the defeat.
The Zephyrs fell to 27-28.
Jake Marisnick extended his hitting streak to 12 games. It’s the second longest hit streak of the season for New Orleans, Justin Bour opened the season with a 14 game streak. The Zephyrs took five of eight at Dell Diamond this year winning the season series for the first time since 2009.
The Zephyrs continue the road-trip in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Saturday. Zephyrs face the Sky Sox at 6:05 p.m. at Security Service Field.
