Round Rock, Texas — Patrick Kivelehan drilled a eighth inning go ahead two-run double to give the Express a 5-3 come-from-behind win in front of a sellout crowd of 13,812 at The Dell Diamond.

The Express started Yu Darvish on a rehab assignment from the Texas Rangers. Darvish pitched three innings allowed one run on two hits.

The Zephyrs trailed early 2-0, but scored a run off of Darvish in the second and took the lead with a two-run fifth. Matt Juengel led the Zephyrs attack with a pair of hits.

Round Rock scored three in the eighth inning off of Andre Rienzo to take the lead. The inning started with a walk and a hit bats men. Kivelehan’s double gave the Express the lead and Pedro Ciriaco added a RBI double.

The Z’s threatened in the ninth inning, but Luke Jackson earned the save. Andrew Faulkner pitched two innings and earned the win.

The Zephyrs (13-14) will fall three games back of the first-place Express (16-11).


The Zephyrs placed pitcher Greg Nappo on the disabled list and added pitcher Matt Tomshaw from Class AA Jacksonville.


The Zephyrs continue the eight game trip against the Round Rock Express at 6:05 Saturday. The Zephyrs will start Kendry Flores against Chi Chi Gonzalez. The game will be broadcast on WODT-AM 1280 AM and streamed at iHeart Radio App.

The Zephyrs next home game will be Tuesday against Colorado Springs. The Z’s will be home for a four game series.
